Resource HackerTM is a freeware utility to view, modify, rename, add, delete and extract resources in 32bit Windows executables and resource files (*.res). It incorporates an internal resource script compiler and decompiler and works on Win95, Win98, WinME, WinNT, Win2000 and WinXP operating systems.

ResHacker is an excellent program to hack the resources of any 32bit Windows executable. You will be able to view the program's different resources such as cursors, icons (.ico), audio files (.midi, .wav, .mp3, etc), videos (.avi, .wmv, .asf, etc) and images (.jpg, .bmp. ,gif, etc) and save them to your computer, replace them or even delete them from the executable. The program can change the resource scripts used on the program which will enable you to modify the way in which the executable works. In addition, the dialog forms, including buttons, menus and other controls can be edited, resized or removed. Another very important and common use of this program is to translate applications, due to the powerful abilities that it offers such as editing the program's forms, resource scripts and dialog messages. ResHacker can also decompile the binary resource files (.res) and the untyped binary files (.bin) from any executable. You can also change the information of the program such as the "Company Name", "Product Name", "Product Version", etc. The program has some limitations; for example it can recognize only Delphi forms and cannot decompile many executables that are protected or compressed by many .exe compressors. |
